about

One year after his remarkable debut, Agosta, the musician-non-musician from Catania, and Space Echo Records return to the spotlight with 'Reworks and Remixes'. The album asserts its independence from the previous, showcasing the current electronic scene around Mount Etna.
Agosta collaborated with some key figures from Catania's vibrant electronic scene, collectively reinterpreting the tracks from his initial album. Whether it's the contemplative house vibes of Apple 65 or Lady G (Butterfly Agosta's Rework), AN-AN's dub interpretation of "Varanni," drawing influences from Grace Jones and Adrian Sherwood, or the more psychedelic and dusky Trip-Hop rendition of Galathea's "Three Chestnuts."
The Shaft-esque confidence of Salvo Borrelli and Reverend James, the downtempo pop of Cellars by Go.Soul.Map., and the gentle Lady G In A Rainy Version by Invisible Session, incorporating spoken word and what was once termed nu jazz, create a diverse tapestry.
The outcome is a work that is as diverse in terms of the specific artistic individualities involved as it is cohesive in their shared vision of a sound that is both physical and spiritual. Above all, there's a distinctly
Mediterranean flavor permeating each track.
The remix approach allows the songs to express themselves in a creative and experimental manner. Each track bears the personality and vision of individual producers, interweaving with their unique experiences. Yet, against a very specific backdrop—Catania and its rich history of clubbing, prominent venues (particularly Mercati Generali), and historic events (Piatto Forte, Ritetroit, Nero Espresso)—a peculiar aspect of the project unfolds.
This backdrop is integral to the project, encapsulating the essence of Catania and its entire clubbing history, including interactions with foreign producers and DJs from diverse backgrounds such as Osunlade, Gilles Peterson and Rainer Truby.
This significant record almost acts as a milestone for the future sound, providing a historical context to the scene and sonically representing this captivating city through the sensitivity of the contributing artists. Roberto Agosta assumes the role of the director in this operation, and anticipation builds for the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
Don’t Miss It!!!!

Agosta Italy

Roberto Agosta was born in Catania in May 1963, the last son in a family with many children. From an early age he participated in the collective listening sessions that his older brothers - music and politics enthusiasts - and his neighborhood friends, in turn, used to set up. From there was born his passion for ’70s prog, rock and psychedelia. ... more
